For this album it was my goal to assemble a full live band. So I recruited my friend Jason (with whom I'd played in 2 bands between 1993-1996, Static Character and S.G.O.) to play acoustic drums live, and Liz Fountain (who sang on Breakup) on vocals. The pictures included with the bonus content are of the 3 of us recording drums and vocals, as well as our producer and my mentor Thomas Mohbat miking drums and also behind the mixer.

For a time I called us The FM Initiative. In some of the pictures I've uploaded as part of the bonus content for this release, you'll see various versions of the album cover say "FMi" or "DJ FM+The FM Initiative." As a live band we played exactly 3 shows, because that was all we could coordinate between the 3 of us, as we were all in different places. I've included the flyers for each of these shows. ... more

(verse 1) thrown on the floor like the clothes on your bed these tears give away the words that you said in a moment of weakness i pick up the phone and listen to a stranger's voice saying you're not at home. (chorus) but i'll believe so keep telling your lies and talking about how much you care just when it seems like I’ve had enough that's when you're right....you're right i believe. (verse 2) don't say that you don't need this - i already know I keep it all inside so the pain won’t show 'cause i don't want your pity, i couldn’t make you see that my vision of you was the illusion in me. (repeat chorus) (bridge) you told me you'd always stay....(repeat) so do you miss me? (repeat chorus to fade)

(verse 1) could you look in these eyes without ever seeing the pain? never thought it would mean this much but the emptiness remains you turned your head and closed your eyes before you gave it a chance so say what you want and try to leave it behind holding my heart in your hands (chorus) and as we walk away I know that it won't be the same In our garden all alone (verse 2) on this long unhappy road my only comfort was you please tell me where you've gone i'll wait for the friend i once knew why do we run from each other when we're needed most? is it just human nature to run away hide our pain in the roles we play? (repeat chours) (bridge solo) (repeat chours) it won't be the same.... (repeat to end)

about

Originally slated to be a full-length LP, "Conversion Factor" ended up being a 3-song EP. My intention was for this to be a true electronic/live band hybrid. If you remember 90s bands like Republica ("Ready To Go") and Sunscreem ("Perfect Motion," "Love U More" and "Exodus"), that was the sound I was going for.
